Frequently Asked Questions
PJH TrackBite and other PJH Brands traction compound products had been produced, exclusively, since 2007 by Superior Industrial Solutions, Inc. under a “toll manufacturing” agreement. Production standards, quality assurance, and supply security continuously improved over the 17 years of service to the previous owners of PJH Brands. As the PJH Brands owners transitioned out of ownership, Superior formed a partnership with track and race team veterans to acquire the formulas, logo, and business. In July of 2024 this transaction closed and Superior, with our partners, moved beyond being the exclusive manufacturer of PJH TrackBite products to assuming all commercial and support functions of the brand. Of note, this transaction involved the addition of the commercial side of the business. Nothing related to the formula, production, or quality changed. Same great products, same uncompromising quality, now with a future that is secure.
The most frequent of the FAQs by far. Simple answer – letters and numbers. VHT was a brand whose portfolio included, among other products, a traction compound used in racing. Assets, including “Very High Temperature” coatings, were sold by the brand owners and the VHT logo was part of that transaction. At that point, the owners rebranded to PJ1. Once again, assets from the PJ1 portfolio, including a line of lubricants, were sold along with the PJ1 branding. From that transaction, the PJH brand emerged. What remained within the PJH portfolio were the traction compounds the racing industry had grown to trust over decades of consistent formulas and performance.
For 18 years now, as the producer of PJH TrackBite, we have built and enhanced our reputation for uncompromising quality and repeatable manufacturing processes. It was an obsession made clear by the previous owners of the brand that fit into the character and culture of our company. By employing exacting standards in the raw materials and production of TrackBite and verifying those specifications throughout the process with quality control testing, you’ll know that every drum has been, and will be, the same. This is backed up by our ISO 9001/2015 Certification and Lot Traceability on every drum sold. When performance issues on the track come up, our customers have come to realize it’s not the glue, freeing them up to pursue other variables.
TrackBite (SP-163) is recognized around the world as the premier traction compound primarily for creating competitive and consistent surfaces in the sport of drag racing. We’re the sticky stuff that works in combination with rubber to create grip. Since 1972, this formula has grown in recognition and respect due to it being the traction compound effectively covering the broadest range of conditions such as temperature, humidity, altitude, etc. TrackBite is recognized as the Official Traction Compound of NHRA.
TrackResin (SP-161) is widely recognized as a good place to start in building a track surface from bare concrete or asphalt. This base layer is often referred to as a starting line resin. In addition, TrackResin offers grip in racing situations where mechanical rubber rotation, scuffing, or dragging isn’t practical. Circle and oval tracks find that TrackResin effectively adds a lane creating a level of competition fans want to come see.

To get the most out of TrackBite, start with a clean surface! It would be difficult to over emphasize this. The track prep professionals vary in their application and it can be considered an art. However, in most cases, we find the process to be most effective when it is sprayed and rotated, or drug, with rubber. TrackBite is sticky. TrackBite in combination with rubber creates a masterpiece for competitive and consistent racing. Need help understanding that? We’re here for support. Just reach out.
Our experienced track prep experts recommend spraying undiluted or as it is in the drum. Need less, speed up. Need more, slow down. If your sprayer or preference calls for dilution, this can be done using Isopropyl Alcohol or Methanol.
